Alligator skin differs from crocodile skin in that the round scales are smaller. The scales from the stomach, tail and head are more square. ALLIGATOR skin is considered to be the "DIAMOND OF LEATHER" and is extremely durable and hard-wearing. Requiring its own kinds of cut and work – which are different to those used for other leathers – rare, precious alligator skins are of exceptional character and extraordinarily long-lasting. Alligator skin is available in a brilliant or matte finish.
As the alligator is an endangered species, items made of real alligator skin are sold legally and delivered with their import certificate (CITES). Asking for this certificate can take up to 8 weeks.
